Filtering by release year or decade in an IPTV player lets you narrow the discovery screen down to, say, just the 2020s, 2010s, or older titles, instead of scrolling through every year.

Why by decade instead of an exact year

A filter by decade (2020s, 2010s, 2000s, 1990s, older) leaves enough results to browse through, while filtering on one exact year often leaves too few titles for comfortable browsing.

Combining with "hot", "all time" or other sorting

A release-year filter usually works alongside a separate sort order (for example "trending now" versus "best of all time") — so you choose both which period and how results within that period are sorted.

Older titles are harder to find via trending

Trending lists naturally lean on recent popularity. For genuinely older classics, an explicit decade filter is often the only practical way to find them through the discovery screen.
